Recently, GTIIT-Changzhou Innovation Institute (GCII) held the 2026 Project Inauguration Ceremony at the China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park (CICP).

Prof. Mao Junfa, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chancellor of GTIIT; Mr. Zhou Liping, Director of Changzhou Science and Education Town and the CICP Administrative Committee; Prof. Eli Aljadeff, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Moris S. Eisen, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT and Director of GCII; Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Mr. Rami Horesh, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT and Council Chair of GCII, together with Mr. Li Qiang, Deputy Director of the Science and Education Town Administrative Committee, and officials from Luoyang Town, Wujin District, Changzhou, attended the event. It was co-hosted by Mr. Michael Lv, Director of GTEC and Deputy Director of GCII, and Mr. Yin Xukang, Executive Director of GCII.

In 2026, GCII collected 19 project proposals centered on Changzhou's pillar industries and, after joint review, selected 5 GTIIT seed projects and 1 GTIIT–Technion joint seed project.

At the plaque ceremony, the professors of the selected projects received their awards in the presence of Chancellor Mao, who joined the teams in a commemorative photo and extended his best wishes for their future research endeavors.

This year, two seed research projects graduated to startup status and formally entered the incubation phase. At the event, leaders from both sides presented symbolic “golden keys” to the project representatives, marking their move onto a fast track for growth.

Associate Professors Wang Yan and Xiao Keke presented their projects on stage, vividly showcasing the achievements of China-Israel joint research and collaborative innovation.

Prof. Moris S. Eisen reviewed GCII's progress: since its establishment, 56 projects have been proposed, 20 seed research projects are now underway in Changzhou, and 3 startups have been incubated. This year marks the launch of the first GTIIT–Technion joint seed research project, further expanding channels of international collaboration. He encouraged the new teams to tackle key technological challenges and accelerate commercialization, positioning GCII as a strategic hub for China-Israel technology and industry cooperation.

Mr. Zhou Liping noted that since the partnership was signed in 2023, GCII has focused on frontier fields such as new energy, health, and synthetic biology, quickly growing into a benchmark platform for China-Israel innovation cooperation and industry-academia integration. As Academician Mao assumes the role of Chancellor of GTIIT, both sides are fully confident in further cooperation.

At the roadshow session, Associate Professor Xu Xinpeng from GTIIT's Physics Program, Dr. Wang Shisi from the Materials Science and Engineering Program, and Prof. Xu Peng from the Chemical Engineering Program took the stage in turn, presenting the cutting-edge technologies and market potential of their incubated startups.

At the close of the event, Prof. Eli Aljadeff presented a commemorative gift to CICP in appreciation of the park's long-standing support.

The ceremony marked another expansion of GCII's research and incubation portfolio. Leveraging GTIIT's international faculty and research strength, the institute will continue to build bridges between China and Israel in innovation, creating a complete ecosystem spanning basic research through startup incubation.
